Goodreads Summary:

No one’s afterlife is as dispiriting as Audrey’s―at least that’s what she believes after waking up dead without her memories and being promptly assigned to hunt demons for the rest of eternity. She’s convinced God’s made a cosmic mistake; after all, she’d rather discuss the color of her nails than break them on angelic weapons.

It doesn’t help that her trainer, Logan, is as infuriating as he is attractive. And just when Audrey and Logan appear close to developing an amicable relationship, a decision made under duress pushes their hearts in a direction neither of them saw coming.

Despite her sub-par fighting abilities, an ancient weapon of unparalleled power chooses Audrey as its wielder, attracting the cautious gazes of her fellow hunters and the attention of Satan himself. With Satan’s eyes now fixed on Audrey, a battle for the safety of the living looms in the shadows.

About the Author

Julie Hall was a late blooming reader, but once captivated, writing became her dream.

14434144Going the practical route in college she earned a business degree from the University of Michigan. After school, she worked in marketing and publicity for both television and film, until she’d had enough of selling other people’s creative expressions.

She miraculously convinced her dashingly handsome husband that having ten years of experience mentoring youth, the idea of quitting her job to write a young-adult novel was the sensible thing to do.

Since then she’s become a puppy mama to a goldendoodle named Bear, and an actual mother to her adopted daughter.

Review:

Stars: 5/5 Stars

I’m going to start off by saying just go pick up this book now (Seriously, there is no way you can be disappointed)

I LOVED this book. (Might also be my fourth time reading it, and guess what? My view of it never changes, I just love it more and more every time)

Everything having to do with Audrey and Logan was just perfect, and coming from me (The hater of all things Romance, only sometimes though) That is saying something. It isn’t over whelming. Julie made it were Audrey was still B.A.  As in without needing a guy to make her more so. (Can I be more like her please?)

Julie did an amazing job describing afterlife and Heaven, were as a lot of book always tend to over do it, by making it seem unattainable, that isn’t the case here.

I’m trying so hard not to get too spoilery for everyone! I really just loved everything about the writing, the story and the characters.

But don’t take my word for it, pick up a copy now and message me, leave me a comment and tell me your thoughts!

REVIEW:
Stars:  5/5 Stars

I absolutely fell in love with Defier. Mandy Fender wrote such an amazing story. The characters were well developed, and pull you into the story. I couldn’t put the book down. I loved how the book doesn’t lead to the idea of a dystopian book until you get a few chapters in. It was a breath of fresh air, with all of the Dystopian books out these days, that throw you right in the middle of all of the chaos, and just expect you to figure it out. You are lead into the story the same way that the Character are. (Might I just say that it takes a Pro to do this right? Go Mandy!)

This book talks about Christianity (If you aren’t religious this won’t be an issue, You’ll understand what I mean when you read. You won’t be bias, or offended ect.) and standing for what you believe in the face of adversity. (The Girl Who Stood, come on. GIRL POWER!)

The story line reminded me a lot of events that happened in the Holocaust, which as a History Major pulled me into the writing more. I wish I could express into better words just how much I love this book.

If you have been looking for a good Dystopian book that you won’t want to put down, pick up Defier now!
